Carlos Marinic (Buenos Aires, 1964) is an architect graduated from the Architecture, Design and Urbanism School of Buenos Aires University (FADU-UBA). In 1990, at just 26 years of age, he joined friends and colleagues Adriana Gerszonswit and Luis Sanz to set up "Estudio ARTEK" following a novel guideline: to focus on stands architecture -which would in time lead to corporate and institutional architecture. Its comprehensive conception of the discipline - according to which the design of the space cannot be detached from the communication and the institutional image- and a 30-year-old career have made "Estudio ARTEK" a referent in the field.

International expansion
One of Carlos' major contributions to the growth of that creative space is the impulse that he has boosted beyond the local borders: after Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Rosario, he added representations in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Pablo, Santiago de Chile, Barcelona, Punta del Este and Miami. Currently, he remains at the forefront of this international expansion, and leads projects of different sizes around the world.

Academic experience
His teaching experience began in the classrooms where he was trained: between 1988 and 1993 he worked as an assistant in the subject "Design" with Professor Miguel Ángel Roca, and for ten years he held the position of Head of Assignments in the subject “Architectural Representation” in charge of Professor Miguel Ángel Roca (1991-2000). In 2001, he took up the same position with Professor Jorge Sohranet, where he has been an Associate Professor since 2004. FADU-UBA. Legajo Nª 119143.

It is thanks to that pedagogical background that his contribution to the revaluation of the architecture of stands in the academic field has been sustained: between 1995 and 2002, he was the tenured teacher of the course “Stands and Events Architecture” in the Art and Humanistic Studies Center (CEART), and in 2004 and 2005 he delivered the extracurricular course “Spaces that communicate: stands design and representation” in FADU-UBA. At the same time, he offered similar proposals at the Graphic Design Studies Center of Rosario (2001) and at Vicente López College of Architects (1998).

Beyond architecture
His participation in different courses, workshops, congresses and contests reflect a multifaceted personality, laden with the multiple tools of which he makes use, directly or indirectly, to fulfil his role as a partner at Estudio ARTEK. It is there that his productions as a drawer, painter and photographer are exploited, many of which earned him several prizes, mentions and entries in exhibitions, such as those held at the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Ruth Benzacar Gallery within the framework of the International Biennials of Architecture of Buenos Aires in 1995 and 1997. These distinctions are added to those obtained with his architectural and urban planning projects, as well as the publication of his works and his thoughts about the professional world.His appreciation for interdisciplinary work, a constant feature in the development of his trade, is reflected in the studies of aesthetics, art, design and advertising that he has carried out mostly under Marta Zantoyi’s tutelage. This renowned scholar has succeeded in stimulating Carlos’ curiosity, whose restless intellect alternates and combines his technical and professional training with his philosophical and humanistic interests.

Gabriela Pacifico (Buenos Aires, 1973). In 1994 she joined “Banco Francés” (French Bank), known today as BBVA. With a strong commercial and customer-service oriented training, she was in charge of “Banca Telefónica”, and developed such skills as Negotiation Strategies and Advanced Negotiation, which were certified by Hugo Levy & Assoc. (a consultancy with more than 40 years’ experience in Latin America and with over 150,000 executives trained). In 1999, she was standardized to ISO 9000 norms in IRAM, being in charge of the implementation and certification process of BBVA’s “Banca Telefónica”. She then continued her professional commercial training at Energy Consulting Services, a GDF SUEZ Group company, one of the largest energy companies in the world (known today as ENGIE). From 2005 to 2010 she was also in charge of the company’s positioning in the Argentine market, being responsible for the marketing and branding performance of the firm.
In 2011, she joined Artek as an account associate and referent for Artek headquarters in the province of Córdoba. In 2016, she was part of the Córdoba Convention & Visitors Bureau, an entity that gathers event planners and qualified suppliers in the field. Today, as a member of the Bureau's board, she is focused on contributing to the local development of the sector at fairs, congresses and exhibitions.
With more than 15 years of experience in the world of exhibitions, she has acquired all the event business-related techniques. Effective, responsive, focused on project management and result-oriented, her expertise covers all stages, from the design to the implementation phases, accompanying customers in their brands’ development and positioning.

Academic experience
Trained in the UBA (University of Buenos Aires) as an obstetrician (1998 - 2003), she carried out hospital practices for two years. This experience taught her patience, listening skills, interdisciplinary work, and the value of one’s responsibility towards others, trying every day to adapt to each individual’s needs and expectations so as to find the right solution to every situation and solve it successfully.
Today, this experience has become an important tool in her profession.

Beyond architecture
Her multifaceted personality and creative spirit have led her to break into the world of the arts, her inspirational phrase being: "If there exist 360 degrees, there is no reason to restrict myself to only one" - Zaha Hadid.
Inspired by the need for architectural projects, and finding motivation in them, she has taken design beyond tangible objects by portraying it into painting. In her constant quest to "communicate", she achieves an artistic expression through her painting that speaks in various ways and with different colors.

Débora Bessa (Rio de Janeiro, 1976) graduated in Architecture and Urbanism at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1998. She had been working in the studio that was in charge of the main franchise projects in Brazilian stores, where she pursued her University studies with the development of executive projects and construction monitoring. She was a member of one of the winning teams of Rio Cidade, and in 2001 and 2002 she collaborated with the “Célula Urbana”, a project of the iconic Bauhaus school in association with the MoVLe studio in Rio de Janeiro.

Academic experience
In 2002 she moved to Argentina to obtain a postgraduate degree in Urban Design at the University of Buenos Aires, where she also began her teaching career in the “Introduction to Contemporary Architecture” Chair. In 2004 she joined Artek as a drawer and soon expanded her role towards the commercial field until she became a partner, opening the company's office in Brazil in 2008, the thriving regional headquarters dealing with a large number of events in the Rio-São Paulo / southeast - south - northeast axis, as well as in other Latin American countries.
Over the years, she has also worked with clients and projects worldwide, supervised Artek assemblies in Japan, for example, and expanded an important commercial channel with Europe.

International experience
In 2017, she settled down in Spain, where she pursued her interests in Management, Marketing and Commercial Strategies and collaborated with the expansion of Artek.
She became a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Brazil-Catalonia and also attended meetings of the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid.
Her command of several languages (Portuguese, Spanish, English, Catalan and basic Italian and French) and her experience in over 25 countries have contributed to her work management skills in different national and international markets, and they have fostered communication with partners, suppliers, event organizers and customer service in particular.

Beyond architecture
Fine arts, music and literature have always been very meaningful in her personal life, and her studies at the renowned Colégio Pedro II -interdisciplinary training- have contributed to her global viewpoint.
This has led her to take part in several activities at the same time. While still at university, she was a member of the organizing committee of the National Architecture Student Meetings. She delivered classes about stands and events.
In 2015 she worked as a curator and was the author of the featured article in an issue of the Buenos Aires Architects Central Society (SCA) magazine, whose theme was the production of architecture in Brazil with a view to the forthcoming 2016 Olympic Games. She also organized and carried out a guided tour with a group of Argentine architects in the cities of Rio, Sao Paulo and Brasilia.
She has written articles on cities and travel for a magazine in Barcelona and specialized websites in Brazil, in addition to maintaining her own profile on travel, design and culture.

Patricia Martó, a Graphic Designer specialized in Packaging Design, stands and virtual events. At the beginning of her career she gained experience at MB10 advertising agency and then in 1993 she took her first steps in packaging design at Worldcolor, a renowned cosmetic laboratory, where she acquired valuable experience. Later, in 2002, she set up her own design studio specialized in Packaging and Branding.
In 2015 she ventured into the world of stands by joining Artek as a member of staff in Argentina and in Chile as a partner and current legal representative of the local Headquarters.

Academic training
In 1995 she graduated from the Graphic Design course of studies at FADU-UBA, the School of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of the University of Buenos Aires. She completed her studies by training in design-related disciplines, such as drawing classes at Estímulo de Bellas Artes. She studied Illustration for six years with illustrator Enrique Vieytes. She obtained the Packaging Management certification at IAE (Instituto Argentino del Envase). She has also trained in the following fields, which have contributed to her business growth: Marketing and Service Sales, Services Foreign Trade (Bank of Boston Foundation - present-day ICBC), Effective Negotiation (Escuela Argentina de Negocios), Digital Marketing (Dot-Zero), Interdisciplinary Coaching, Training in face-to-face and virtual Business Rounds (MBM)

Beyond Architecture
All her experience has led her to interact with the world of Ephemeral Architecture; her knowledge in visual communication and volume design enables her to carry out large-scale communication projects. She has a 20-year-long career in packaging design and has been awarded first prize by The Walt Disney Company LATAM for product development in 2010 for the license of children's perfumes.
Today she keeps providing her services for companies in the Packaging design area. Due to her experience, she was summoned by PURO DISEÑO train Entrepreneurs in this discipline, where she currently provides her knowledge. Furthermore, in addition to keeping the Business Round and Interactive Virtual Events (EVI) active, she takes part in the promotion of this type of events.

Jazmin Carriles (Buenos Aires, 1992) is a graduate architect of Morón University. After several years in the design and marketing fields, she joined the Artek team in 2017.

International experience
Since 2016, she has taken part in AQ Rendering, an Argentine company with international reach. She is in charge of 3D graphic design, construction models, project images, virtual reality, final project presentations, marketing and social media. In early 2017, she worked as a construction manager in Sydney, Australia, checking the installations upon work competition as well as staff supervision.
In 2018, she participated in the interior design project for an international hotel chain. Headquarters design in Rio de Janeiro, Bariloche and Buenos Aires. Currently, she is part of the international Artek team.

Academic experience
She began her teaching career in 2015 as a member of the TIA III Chair (Integral Architecture Workshop III), whose lecturer was Alejandro Lowus, architect, in the 4th year of the Architecture course of studies, Universidad de Morón. She held this position until the end of the 2019 school term.

Beyond architecture
In early 1997, she began her artistic facet within the field of fine arts. She developed painting, sculpture and artistic design techniques. She continued the internship for ten years until completing the last term.
She has taken part in several design contests, carried out by Clarín SCA, CLA TIL, ARCHMEDIUM and ArteÚnico. In every project she has won honors, both at national and international levels. Many of the contests are related to future dwelling styles and sustainable developments, fields in which she has trained in recent years.

Más allá de la arquitectura
A comienzos del año 1997, comienza su faceta artística dentro del campo de bellas artes. Desarrollando técnicas de pintura, escultura y diseño artístico. Continua las prácticas por un período de diez años hasta completar el último ciclo.
Participación en diversos concursos de diseño, desarrollados por Clarín SCA, CLA TIL, ARCHMEDIUM y ArteÚnico. En todos los proyectos diseñados ha logrado menciones, tanto nacionales como internacionales. Muchos de los concursos están relacionados con futuras formas de habitar y desarrollos sustentables, campos en los cuales se ha capacitado en los últimos años.

SPACES THAT COMMUNICATE

Orphan of Spanish word, the stand sparkles with increasing frequency among the younger architectural chores. It has not the fateful assignment of enduring, hence neither does it suffer from decay: it boasts dynamic force. From the very moment of its conception, it renounces to the vain pretense of eternity. Born to display and be display. It was built to be crossed. Its fate is inexorable: its tempo bears a hastened rhythm; but the shortness of its lifespan is rewarded by the intensity of its presence. Far from being the Cinderella of architectural typologies, it was granted the privilege of inciting endless movement. It is histrionic, taking nourishment from glances, opening to desire, offering itself, promising. At the edge of paradigmatic ties, it claims the right

to be carelessly unconcerned about technical, material or composition precepts, emerging from the alchemy of the act of experimenting, innovating, improvising. Nevertheless, it is not a creature of a violent collision against the given world. Its reality –pragmatic and aesthetic- not only blends with challenge and seduction, but also with the humble subordination to effectiveness and situational restraints. Its festive life cannot evade the paradox of generating usefulness. And though architectural records scarcely devote space to it, the stand –with its restless and frantic experience– prompts changes in future works, forever indebted to its fleeting existence.

Since 1990, members of Artek have been taking part in Chairs at Buenos Aires University and in private courses where they have gained academic experience in the field of architecture, particularly in the field of stands.

As a result, the extracurricular subject “Stands, spaces that communicate” has been delivered at Buenos Aires University since 2000.
